The Lake Worth Playhouse is the oldest building listed on the register of Art Deco Society of Palm Beach. The Playhouse occupies the building formerly known as The Oakley Theater, a Vaudeville and movie palace built in 1924 by the Oakley brothers. Closed for many years and after a major renovation which changed the style of the original fa├žade to the Art Deco style we see today, in 1975 The Lake Worth Playhouse purchased The Oakley Theater. Today the Playhouse a non-profit organization offers a great variety of cultural events such as alternative films, dramas, comedies, musicals, concerts and serves as cultural outreach to the community.
