The Lake Worth Playhouse is the oldest building listed on the register of Art Deco Society of Palm Beach. The Playhouse occupies the building formerly known as The Oakley Theater, a Vaudeville and movie palace built in 1924 by the Oakley brothers. Closed for many years and after a major renovation which changed the style of the original façade to the Art Deco style we see today, in 1975 The Lake Worth Playhouse purchased The Oakley Theater. Today the Playhouse a non-profit organization offers a great variety of cultural events such as alternative films, dramas, comedies, musicals, concerts and serves as cultural outreach to the community.
